The New Hope Story
Greetings from the Desk of.... Pastor E. Jennings Tyson
To My Dear New Hope Family,
“We are on our way to a land that's bright and fair; we are on our way. We’re on our journey home!”
What an amazing start to 2022! A major milestone in the life and history of the New Hope Baptist Church-a new home! To experience the entrance celebration at our new parcel of ground on Sunday, January 30th at 3:00 pm, was simply breathtaking! Truly God has shown us that He can take little and make much when we place it in His hands. Expansion 2.0 symbolizes, “an advanced version of an original concept” ...the New Hope Experience will always be a church that loves to lift up the Name of Jesus and show compassion to everyone-especially the least, the lost and the left out.
As we move together in my 19th year as Pastor of a great people, we must strive to be one church in two locations by LIFE and LIPS. If ever the general theme needed to come to life (One Vision, One Team, One Ministry), that time is right now. Not many ministries, Children, are able to say they’ve been blessed to attain 8-acres of land, two buildings, and all the contents in it for $800,000 and be able to keep the original building (1232 NE 7th Street) debt-free! To that we say, “To God Be the Glory!”
With an assignment like this, we are rebuilding two churches at one time. That means our stewardship commitment will be more urgent than ever before giving of our time, our talent, and our treasures. The year 2022, I’m asking each member to pledge beyond tithes and offering at one of three levels: $1,000 | $500 | $365. I believe that every person can be counted in giving something: "not equal giving, but equal sacrifice!"
If the Lord says the same, the mantle of leadership for the Progressive Oklahoma Baptist State Convention (POBSC) will change in May 2022. Dr. Calvin Miller has done an outstanding job, and it has been my privilege to serve as his 1st Vice President. As I assume leadership of the POBSC, it will take a full-fledged effort of the New Hope Baptist Church in every capacity. You’ve heard me say for 19 years, “It’s not a me thang, but we thang!” It will take all of us over the next 4 years to take our convention to the next level.
Theme of our work for this year will remain the same: “A New Season of Open Doors, Part II” Revelations 3:7-8. Let’s continue to pray for our world as we enter the 3rd year dealing with the COVID pandemic and pray that—in God’s own time—He will heal the land. There is much work to continue, and we will trust God’s plan for our “new normal.”
Get ready, New Hope: All year long, we will continue to celebrate with special services and guests to truly dedicate; bless and anoint this house! Midwest City is our new, ripe harvest…let us GO—Get Them, Teach Them, and Train Them to GO Get Them!
For the Cause of Christ,
Rev. E. Jennings Tyson, Pastor
